Tournament Director

We are looking for individuals to manage our baseball and fastpitch tournaments on site at the Rock Sports Complex (Franklin, WI), Big Foot Sports Complex (Walworth, WI), DeForest Athletic Complex (DeForest, WI) and Rantoul Family Sports Complex (Rantoul, IL).  

The right candidate will have strong knowledge of the game and preferably experience running and hosting youth tournaments.  

JOB DUTIES:

  • Team Check In.
  • Supervising Site Supervisors & Interns.
  • Customer Relations.
  • Making sure all supplies are ready.
  • Manage on site staff for day to day operations.
  • Entering Scores.
  • Posting Brackets.
  • Manage any weather issues and communicate with teams as appropriate.
  • Work directly with the Umpire in Charge.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
  • Coaching/ Playing experience - High School Level or beyond
  • Communication skills – strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to positively interact with all patrons attending events at the stadium and other venues.
  • Dependability – available for early morning/late evening/weekend work - a commitment to working nights/weekends.
  • High energy, enthusiastic, individual with total team player orientation and ability to motivate colleagues at every level of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of the travel ball market preferred.

 

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Tournaments run from April through the end of Aug.
  • Flexibility of schedule due to scheduling multiple tournament directors per event.
  • Pay to be determined based on experience and availability.

 

                                                                                                                           

Internship Program

It is our goal to provide you with hands-on experience and knowledge useful in competing for jobs in the sports management industry. We will also work with you to fulfill the requirements for college credit if necessary. Qualifications are based on ability, desire, work ethic, and a commitment to make the most of the experience. This internship promises to offer a little bit of everything from Customer Service and Site Supervising to Administrative work. Each day will bring about its own set of new experiences and challenges.

Job Duties

  • Set up and break down equipment for tournament events.
  • Work directly under the Director in assisting him/her with rosters, welcome packets, and paperwork before each tournament.
  • Serve as a tournament official, maintaining a working knowledge of rules and procedures as well as announcing games.
  • Serve as a customer service representative to the coaches. Answer questions as they pertain to their tournament and collect money at the gate.
  • Assist with team/player check-in.
  • Take pictures and post on Rock Sports Groups social media platforms.
  • Convey and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times while providing extraordinary external and internal customer service.
  • Absorb training and demonstrate initiative, desire, and drive.
  • Work with staff to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as Guest Services attendant.
  • Assist managers with communication with onsite operations staff.
  • Interns must be committed to working nights, weekends, and occasionally holidays.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited program at a College or University with a degree emphasis in Sport Management, Event Management, Business Management, Marketing, and/or Hospitality.
  • Intern must display professionalism – businesslike attitude, attire, cheerful disposition, teamwork.
  • Communication skills – strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to positively interact with all patrons attending events at the stadium and other venues.

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • The internship runs from April through the middle of August.
  • The expectation is to work 9 weekends of the 16
  • Travel may be required.
  • THIS IS A PAID INTERNSHIP. Pay is between $10-$12/hour and is to be determined based on availability and workload.

                                                                                                                           

Gate / Merchandise Staff

As a gate / merchandise staff member, you will be responsible for working an entry gate, taking payment, scanning prepaid tickets and/or working a merchandise tent at the tournament event. Further, you will be the first person to greet our players and families and we need someone who is friendly, enjoys greeting people and is willing to work hard. 

Job Duties

  • Serve as a customer service representative to the coaches, players and families. Answer questions as they pertain to their tournament and collect money at the gate.

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Looking for people who can work Friday evening and weekends in April and May as well as Thursday-Sunday in June and July.
  • Staff will be guaranteed 25+ hours per event weekend and can be up to 40 hours each tournament event.
  • We have 16 weekends of events and all staff is expected to work a minimum of 8 of the weekends.
  • Pay is based $10-$12/hour based on experience.
